NEWPORT, RHODE ISLAND

Following breakfast, a morning drive takes you to Newport, Rhode Island, the immaculately restored city with its lavish mansions, jazz festivals and home of the America’s Cup race. You’ll motor along the ten-mile Ocean Drive to see the exquisite estates and “mansions of the rich and famous”, and visit two of them, including the most palatial of them all, The Breakers. Once home of Cornelius Vanderbilt, it has 70 rooms and sweeping ocean views from across broad terraces and lawns. Next, you will visit Rosecliff. Commissioned by Nevada silver heiress Theresa Fair Oelrichs in 1899, architect Stanford White modeled Rosecliff after the Grand Trianon, the garden retreat of French kings at Versailles. Afterwards, a stop at the Brick Market, where you will have time to shop in the boutiques and nautical shops unique to Newport. You will then motor back to your hotel.
